Cologne Carnival has many faces — from aggressive to affectionate. In an anarchic film language, “Alaaf You: A City Turns Through” takes the viewer on a rollercoaster of emotions. This is only available in Cologne! Pop star Clueso dresses up on the street and visits Wolfgang Niedecken, who reveals his little carnival secret. Reggae guru Patrice plays music with jecken. De Höhner backstage, the robbers with groupies, Cat Ballou on the tour bus, Kasalla filmed from the front row by fans, Paveier writing songs, 1. FC Cologne on Rose Monday procession... And in between, the wild hustle and bustle on the street, in clubs and in the apartments. Club carnevalists show their carnival as well as thousands of celebrators on the streets. The first user-generated feature film about Cologne Carnival: The online video community alaaf-you.com produced a cinema documentary about Cologne Carnival with numerous video contributions from users. A professional team of award-winning filmmakers and online experts took care of the creative implementation and technical production. The former Lord Mayor of the City of Cologne was a patron, the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee is a big supporter and the City of Cologne is also participating. In addition, a number of major Cologne bands are involved. All citizens of the city of Cologne were invited to contribute to the making of the film with their video contributions about the carnival 2014.
